KYLE PARK returned to Billy Bob’s and kept the dance floor packed. After the show Kyle signed autographs until closing time. It was a long day for him, flying into DFW early to meet Robert Gallagher and Smith Music’s Randy Smith for golf at Bear Creek.
THE BAND PERRY also made their debut here last year on the Honky Tonk Stage and they have been really busy performing and winning awards from the CMA, ACM & CMT. Their latest hit, “You Lie,” is in the Top 5 on the Country Charts. The Band Perry learned that their #1 smash hit, “If I Die Young,” had achieved Double Platinum certification for sales exceeding 2 million. They were excited to tell us they’ve been picked for several headlining dates on tour with both Tim McGraw and Reba.
LITTLE BIG TOWN made their BBT debut and loved it. We were impressed with their Family atmosphere. Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook have been performing together for a dozen years. Kimberly says, “It’s been 12 years so crammed full with story and drama...crazy stuff in 12 years that most people might take a lifetime to live out.” Early in their collaboration, all four band members were in relationships. Due to break ups, divorces, and in Kimberly’s case, the death of her husband Steven Roads in 2005, they all found themselves single again with their fellow band members forming their main support system. Fast forward to the present and Little Big Town finds themselves with the happy problem of having less and less room on the tour bus due to their ever-expanding families. All four members have married and had a child in the last five years - What a great backstage full of kids, nannies, relatives and friends.
Fort Worth’s own HUDSON MOORE made his BBT debut on the Honky Tonk Stage and it couldn’t have been better. With his debut album, “Fireworks” just out he’s already forged a considerable fan base. Just barely 21, Hudson has surrounded himself with seasoned veteran musicians and the live performance has tons of energy and lots of fans. He will definitely return to BBT so watch for him soon.
Fort Worth’s DELBERT McCLINTON honed his craft in Cowtown working in a bar band, The Straitjackets. Delbert mastered the craft of keeping the hard-drinking rednecks, cowpokes and roustabouts entertained all night long. The Grammy Award winning artist still has lots of ties here so the backstage was full of family, friends and musicians. Glen Clark, Gary Nicholson and Lewis Stephens joined Delbert onstage.
CORY MORROW recorded a “Live At BBT” CD and DVD and the producers will have plenty to work with. Cory and Band performed for 3 hours ! The set included an extended acoustic session to open the show. Even after the very long performance, Cory still went out to sign autographs.
TRAVIS TRITT put on an incredible show of 2 and a half hours. He would rather be singing than anything. After a long sound check with the band, he stayed on stage and rehearsed solo for another 1-1⁄2 hours. He is the consummate artist.
CHRIS ISAAK really enjoyed Fort Worth, he came in 2 days before the concert, and stayed the day after! Chris celebrated his birthday at Billy Bob’s, and DFW meteorologist Rebecca Miller arranged for birthday cupcakes from her friends Tony and Malgosia Monje at Ultimate Cupcake. Ft. Worth’s own Johnny Reno sat in on saxophone, and at one point Reno and Isaak went into the crowd - performing on a table. “It was a thrilling and magical moment”, said BBT president Concho Minick.

Changes are coming to TMU. I am looking at providing more content through "press release" articles instead of doing interviews. There will be an interview from time to time, if I personally find someone that interests me. As some of you know I am a working Singer Songwriter and have been very busy with my music, selling my songs as well as performing. Although I enjoy sharing my insight and journey through interviews, I must focus some of my time on my "dream" as well. I hope you will find the next few months interesting and informing. As always I hope to bring you the "Underground Texas Artists" as well as a few of the "big boys". I am also considering a monthly acoustic artist video for front page as well as creating a "Used Gear/Sale trade page". Such as life always evolving!
